At FPCLY Since: February 2022
Nancy Dawson most recently served as Interim Pastor for Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church for three years and led the congregation through an intensive time of discernment, the pandemic, and a major capital campaign to make the beautiful stone facility more efficient, durable, aesthetically attractive and usable by the congregation and community. At the end of three years (a very long ministry in terms of Interim ministry – thanks to COVID) Nancy retired. Prior to serving at Quaker Memorial, Nancy was the previous General Presbyter for the Presbytery of the Peaks. Before being called to the Peaks, Nancy served as Associate for Church Development for the Presbytery of the James, Pastor of Ampthill Presbyterian Church in Richmond and Associate Pastor for Summit Presbyterian Church in Stafford, Virginia.
Nancy entered the ministry after spending nearly twenty years in health care, education, business and consulting in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati Area. Rev. Dr. Dawson holds a BS degree in Nursing, an MEd in Business, a Masters of Divinity Degree, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree.
Nancy and her husband Richard enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining, browsing in antique stores and playing with their now 4-year-old Havanese (Bishon, Maltese and Poodle) named Ellie. Ellie has been a great comfort dog as Richard’s health began to decline nine years ago due to cardiovascular disease and his death in March of 2021. Nancy and Ellie continue to live in Forest, VA. Nancy is excited and honored to be serving with Peter and the rest of the staff at First Presbyterian as Parish Associate and looks forward to visiting with and getting to know the members and regular visitors there.
